Assistive Technology is any device or piece of equipment that can facilitate ease of performing activities when there is a deficit or inability to perform the activity naturally. Assistive technology can range in cost and complexity, from inexpensive, low tech devices to more costly high tech equipment. Examples of low tech assistive technology are shoehorns, long handled reachers, electric can opener, and homemade devices. Examples of high tech assistive technology include automatic door openers, motion sensor lighting, and computer technology.
